How to read this index
Each entry is a target someone actually asked for. A count is never printed here unless it comes from a public source with a date: role lists move every month, and a number without its source and its date tells you nothing you can check.
Two things change from one role to the next, and they decide what you get:
- the kind of line: a person line names someone in a role; a company line reaches the business itself, for targets like hospitals or hotels where the switchboard is the way in;
- where the data starts: a professional registry, a company register, or nothing official at all. When a registry exists, the count is checkable. When none exists, the count is ours to make during the call.
Each Count them link opens our request form with the target already written. You correct it in your own words, and we count it with you.
Healthcare
Healthcare is the largest family of role lists we are asked for, and the one with the best starting point: in the United States, providers who hold a National Provider Identifier are listed in the NPPES file, which CMS publishes every month. A healthcare list can be checked against an official file. Most other role lists cannot.
| Target | Kind of line | Where the data starts | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physicians | person | NPPES, by specialty and practice location | Count them |
| Cardiologists | person | NPPES specialty taxonomy | Count them |
| Neurologists | person | NPPES specialty taxonomy | Count them |
| Oncologists | person | NPPES specialty taxonomy | Count them |
| Radiologists | person | NPPES specialty taxonomy | Count them |
| Surgeons | person | NPPES specialty taxonomy | Count them |
| Nurse practitioners | person | NPPES | Count them |
| Nurses | person | state nursing boards, then the employer | Count them |
| Pharmacists | person | NPPES and state pharmacy boards | Count them |
| Veterinarians | person | state veterinary boards, then the practice | Count them |
| Hospitals | company | official facility lists, then the switchboard | Count them |
| Dentists | person | NPPES dentist taxonomy codes | Count them |
| Physical Therapists | person | NPPES individual NPIs, primary PT taxonomy | Count them |
| Chief Nursing Officers | person | Establishment size and state, then leadership pages | Count them |
| Urgent care centers | company | NAICS 621493 and NPPES taxonomy 261QU0200X | Count them |
The trap of this family: a practitioner and a practice are not the same unit. A dental practice with four dentists is one phone line and four people. Decide which one you are buying before the count, or the number will not match the file.
Executive roles
There is no register of finance directors. An executive list is built from companies first, then from people inside them, which is why the titles you accept matter more than anything else.
| Target | Kind of line | Titles usually accepted | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chief financial officers | person | CFO, finance director, head of finance | Count them |
| Chief information officers | person | CIO, IT director, head of IT | Count them |
| Chief technology officers | person | CTO, VP engineering, head of technology | Count them |
| Chief marketing officers | person | CMO, marketing director, head of marketing | Count them |
| Chief investment officers | person | CIO in asset management, head of investments | Count them |
| Business Owners | person | state registries and employer establishments | Count them |
The trap of this family: the same title means different jobs at different sizes. A finance director in a 15 person company and in a 5,000 person group do not buy the same thing. Say the company size if it matters to you; if it does not, we do not ask.
Other trades and roles
| Target | Kind of line | Where the data starts | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Architects | person or company | state architecture boards, then the practice | Count them |
| Teachers | person | the school, then the role | Count them |
| Journalists | person | the publication, then the beat | Count them |
| Hotels | company | map listings and tourism registers | Count them |
| Real Estate Agents | person | state license records and brokerage rosters | Count them |
| Interior Designers | person | SOC 27-1025 employer records | Count them |
| Electricians | person | state and local license records | Count them |
Two of these deserve a warning. Teachers and journalists are mostly reached through their institution, and the institution often publishes the address itself. A paid list is worth it when you need the role, the beat or the phone line, not the generic inbox.
Your role is not here
This index lists the targets we are asked for most, not the only ones we build. If you can say it in one sentence, every estate agent in Florida, the heads of logistics of food manufacturers in the Midwest, we can count it. Describe yours.
